An Andean Feast of Flavours in Madrid

The Las Rozas Fairgrounds transforms this weekend into a true gastronomic paradise, hosting the second edition of the ‘Buenazo Perú’ festival. This event, which will run until next Sunday, May 31, has established itself as the largest tribute to Peruvian cuisine in all of Spain. With free entry, attendees can enjoy a wide variety of dishes prepared by 21 prominent restaurants, all representative of the rich culinary heritage of the Andean country.

The presence of Peruvian gastronomy in Madrid is no coincidence. According to data provided by PromPerú, over 300 Peruvian restaurants operate in the capital, representing a significant portion of the national total. This boom is supported by a Peruvian community that exceeds 150,000 people, making up approximately 40% of all Peruvians residing in Spain. The collaboration between Gesfer Eventos and the Las Rozas City Council has allowed participation to double compared to the first edition, held last October.

In this edition of the festival, the most renowned chefs have prepared an impressive menu that includes 64 main dishes and 25 varieties of desserts. Among the most innovative offerings is the lomo saltado made by Perú Taypa with local beef with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Sierra de Guadarrama. Additionally, chef Carlos Pérez will present his famous ‘ceviche volcán’, while Terwalls Parrilla will offer a comforting dish of frejoles with lamb seco.

There will also be space for the traditional; visitors can enjoy fusions such as Nikkei and Chifa cuisine. Guests will have the opportunity to try ribs with pisco and miso or makis acevichados with prawn and avocado. For those seeking authentic flavours from northern Peru, Manos Chiclayanas will present its famous arroz con pato.

The festival will also feature an exceptional sweet offering thanks to patisseries like Tartas Paola and Petite Choli, where unique desserts such as turrón Doña Pepa and picarones can be tasted. The cocktails are not to be missed; from chicha morada to cocktails made with Pisco Sarcay will be available to complement this culinary experience.

Aside from the gastronomic display, Buenazo Perú will offer a varied cultural agenda that includes live cooking demonstrations, children's workshops, and masterclasses on how to prepare the perfect pisco sour. More than 15,000 people are expected to visit the venue during this final weekend of the event.
