Since 2022, households in Getafe have reduced their energy bills by 1.5 million euros. The Healthy Homes Office has benefited nearly 5,000 families in this process.
The residents of Getafe have achieved significant savings on their energy bills, accumulating to date a total of1.5 million euros since the programme began in 2022. This success is due to the work carried out by the Municipal Office of Healthy Homes, which has provided support to approximately 5,000 families in a context where energy prices have increased considerably. So far this year 2026, the savings already exceed 300,000 euros, with an average reduction in energy spending of 20%. This figure reflects the effectiveness of the service offered by the City Council.
The initiative, driven by the Municipal Company of Land and Housing (EMSV), provides personalised advice to optimise supply contracts and improve energy efficiency in homes. Families using this service report an average monthly bill close to 70 euros, managing to reduce this expense after receiving proper guidance.
In addition to advice on energy consumption, the office also offers information on energy rehabilitation, self-consumption, and the creation of energy communities. Furthermore, it facilitates access to various grants available for these initiatives.
To ensure that more citizens can benefit from these services, the City Council has expanded its network of in-person assistance. New weekly points have been added at civic centres such as La Alhóndiga and San Isidro, reaching a total of six spaces dedicated to energy advice.
The Councillor for Housing, Gema Cáceres, highlighted: «In the face of the constant increase in energy prices, our commitment is firm: to guarantee the right to energy and combat energy poverty». This statement underscores the social importance of the programme and its positive impact on family economies.
