The National Police have arrested an 18-year-old, a former protected minor, as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery that occurred last Friday near Lago metro, in the Madrid district of Moncloa. The incident took place when a 25-year-old woman was walking with her mobile phone in hand and was approached by the suspect, who pushed her and snatched the device before fleeing quickly. An off-duty officer who witnessed the events intervened to assist the victim and alert the authorities. After several searches in the area, the officers managed to locate the suspect, although the phone was no longer in his possession.
The detainee had been under the care of the Community of Madrid until reaching adulthood and is known to frequent the area near the former juvenile centre located at the Richard Schirrmann youth hostel. According to sources close to the investigation, this young man often visits former acquaintances from the centre and spends the night near the facility since leaving the care system.
