The Fuenlabrada City Council begins the conversion of Parque Miraflores into a biosalubrious space. The works, which include the renovation of games and furniture, aim to benefit the entire community.
Fuenlabrada has taken a significant step towards modernising its public spaces by starting the works to transform one of the children's areas of Parque Miraflores into a biosalubrious zone. This project, which began in July and is expected to be completed in September, aims to create an accessible and healthy environment for all residents, regardless of their age. The councillor for the Environment and Public Space, Soledad Martín, highlighted that "with these improvement works, we aim to diversify the use of these areas and allow enjoyment by people of different ages." The first phase includes the renewal of the rubber flooring and the play elements worn out by use. Subsequently, the second area will be transformed to include outdoor exercise equipment.
The budget allocated for this transformation amounts to 46,500 euros, reflecting the City Council's commitment to community well-being. In addition to the new games and the renewed flooring, there are plans to install urban furniture such as picnic tables and bins during the second half of August. These improvements also include new lighting to enhance the safety and illumination of the park.
This project is part of a broader plan aimed at improving not only Parque Miraflores but also accessibility and mobility in the neighbourhood. Among the initiatives is a new pedestrian access over the M-506 that will connect Fuenlabrada with Móstoles, as well as improvements to local public transport.
Over the years, Fuenlabrada has continuously worked on modernising its public spaces; however, this focus on biosalubrious areas is relatively new. Compared to other Spanish cities that have implemented similar projects for longer, Fuenlabrada seeks to catch up with contemporary trends in sustainable urbanism.
Residents can soon expect to enjoy not only a renovated area for children but also a space where adults can exercise outdoors. With these initiatives, it is hoped to promote healthy habits among all citizens.
For those interested in learning more about the scheduled activities or how to access these new spaces once the works are completed, it is recommended to visit the official website of the City Council or follow their social media where updates on this exciting project will be published.
