The critical situation of mobility in Móstoles
The mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, has taken action by sending a letter to the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, requesting an urgent meeting to discuss the stagnation of a vital project for the city: the connection between the PAU-4 neighbourhood and the R-5 motorway.
This project is not new; its processing has been blocked for years at various administrative levels. Despite the joint efforts of the Móstoles City Council and the Community of Madrid to advance this issue, including the submission of technical documentation and compliance with state requirements, progress has been minimal. According to Bautista, a favourable report on the project was issued over a month ago, which is now awaiting a definitive resolution from the Ministry.
Bautista emphasises that this connection is crucial to alleviate the daily traffic problems faced by thousands of residents. The lack of this infrastructure is causing significant congestion at key access points such as the M-506, A-5, and M-50. Additionally, it would facilitate access to the development of PAU-4 and improve conditions throughout the northern area of the municipality.
In his letter, the mayor expresses his concern over what he considers an unjustified delay. “It seems that Óscar Puente has it stuck in a drawer,” sources from the City Council state. This assertion underscores a growing frustration at what they perceive as a lack of attention to local needs.
Despite the disappointment, the City Council expresses a clear willingness to collaborate with the Ministry to make this much-anticipated infrastructure a reality. Bautista concludes his letter by requesting a swift response to know the expected timelines for the definitive authorisation of this essential project.
