A new agreement between Atlético de Madrid and Telpark promises to revolutionise mobility in the City of Sport, an ambitious project aimed at creating a unique environment for leisure and sport. This pact, which extends over a period of 70 years, aims to improve access and the experience of visitors to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, an area that has significantly transformed in recent years.

Technological Innovation for Smooth Mobility

The alliance focuses on implementing an integrated mobility system, using advanced technology to manage traffic flows and anticipate demand peaks. This will allow users to enjoy a smoother experience both on normal days and during special events. The key infrastructure will be an underground car park with a capacity for 862 spaces, scheduled to open in June 2027.

In addition to facilitating access to the sports complex, this car park will be equipped with a comprehensive electric charging network, including 34 semi-fast points, 8 fast points, and 8 ultra-fast points. This initiative reinforces the commitment to more sustainable mobility, aligning with the growth of electric vehicle usage.

Through the Telpark app, which has over 6 million users, drivers will be able to reserve their space in advance and access without the need for a physical ticket thanks to an automated system based on number plate recognition. This not only optimises the user experience but also facilitates parking management during mass events.

It will not only serve the sports complex but will also act as logistical support during major events around the stadium. Specific solutions will be developed for subscribers and regular attendees, integrating parking with access to activities within the complex. With this strategy, it is expected to achieve nearly 7,000 available spaces in the entire area surrounding the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

All this operation will be backed by advanced technology that includes a centralised platform for 24/7 control, predictive models on demand and traffic, as well as smart signage designed to optimise vehicle flows during critical moments.

Pablo Agapito, CEO of Telpark, stated: «This project reflects our way of understanding mobility: as a connected and intelligent ecosystem».

Óscar Mayo, General Director of Atlético Madrid added: «The City of Sport is born with a unique vocation not only for its sports offer but also for how it integrates with the city».

As this joint project between Telpark and Atlético Madrid progresses, it is clear that both aim to establish a more efficient and people-centred model. The technological integration will not only improve accessibility but also promote sustainable practices within the urban environment. This innovative approach could serve as an example for future similar initiatives in other cities.
