A new twist in the Ana Millán case
The current vice president of the Assembly of Madrid, Ana Millán, has been exonerated of the accusations against her following the provisional archiving of the case investigating alleged crimes during her term as a councillor in the Arroyomolinos Town Hall. The decision was made by Judge Marta Hernández Lafuente, who determined that there were no rational indications justifying the continuation of the judicial process.
The origin of the conflict dates back to 2016, when Mayor Carlos Ruipérez filed a complaint alleging irregularities in the relationship between Millán and the company Neverland Eventos SL. According to the documents, it was suggested that there had been an administrative prevarication crime related to public contracts awarded to this company, owned by businessman Francisco Vicente Roselló Baldó.
The magistrate concluded that the payments made to an account linked to Millán corresponded to a legitimate rental contract. Despite the initial accusations, the judge found that there was insufficient evidence to support the charges of bribery or influence peddling. In her ruling, she stated that “the mere temporal connection between the income received and the awarding of contracts does not constitute a sufficient indication” to attribute crimes.
Following this resolution, the Popular Party (PP) issued a statement criticizing the PSOE and Más Madrid for acting as a popular accusation throughout this process. The regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, celebrated the judicial decision on social media, expressing her relief after what she described as “a decade of enduring media trials.”
As a result of the provisional dismissal issued by the court, the scheduled witness statements for June 2026 were also suspended. This outcome brings an end to a complicated chapter for Ana Millán and could have significant repercussions for her political career within the Madrid PP.
As this case closes without formal charges against her, a reflection arises on how accusations can impact the public and private lives of politicians. Although Ana Millán has managed to emerge unscathed this time, the journey has left deep marks on both her image and her professional trajectory.
