A New Educational Horizon in Madrid

The MADCUP Foundation has taken a significant step by establishing the headquarters of STEM Racing Spain in Madrid, an innovative project that merges education with the exciting world of Formula 1. This program is designed for students aged between 9 and 19, who will have the opportunity to design and build scale racing cars that will compete on speed tracks.

The project director, Cristina Benzal, emphasizes that this initiative goes beyond mere mechanical aspects. In a recent interview with Kilómetro Cero, Benzal explained: “Participants must present a comprehensive sports and business project, just as a professional team would”. This means that young people not only focus on building the car but also on crucial aspects such as seeking sponsors and managing communication.

As the program progresses, it is estimated that this year it will reach 150 teams, involving an educational community made up of approximately 90,000 students. The regional and national finals will take place in Madrid, where not only technical skills will be evaluated but also the innovation behind each design.

Benzal underscores the fundamental goal of the program: “We want to show young people how STEM disciplines have practical and exciting applications in the real world”. This vision aims to inspire new generations to consider careers in technical fields, aligning with the highest standards of international motorsport.

The choice of Madrid as the headquarters for STEM Racing Spain is no coincidence. The city positions itself as a hub for innovative educational initiatives that seek to prepare young people for the challenges of the future. With projects like this, Madrid reinforces its commitment to technical and scientific education, offering unique opportunities for professional development.
