During a public appearance, Ayuso rejected accusations suggesting that this purchase is a personal luxury. «This is not my home, it is not my residence, nor was it bought for me,» she stated firmly. The president believes that these criticisms are part of a campaign orchestrated by her political opponents to discredit her management.
The controversy arises at a delicate moment, as Madrid faces emergencies due to wildfires. In this context, Ayuso expressed her frustration at having to address this issue while managing more urgent crises. «I am not going to have an official residence like so many ministers,» she added, suggesting that her decision could have avoided media attacks.

Ayuso also defended the administrative process behind this acquisition: «The agency Planifica Madrid reorganises our assets throughout the year; we buy and sell properties as needed.» However, her opponents insist on demanding transparency regarding the costs involved and the criteria used to decide on this purchase.
