The Coslada City Council has approved the initial project for the development of the Barrio del Jarama, which will include more than 4,000 homes, of which 1,550 will be public. This advancement is key to increasing the housing supply in the locality.
The future Barrio del Jarama in Coslada is one step closer to becoming a reality. The Local Government Board of the City Council has greenlit the urbanisation project, allowing the public information period to begin and the request for necessary sectoral reports for its final approval. This development represents a significant opportunity to address the growing housing demand in the municipality.
With a total of 4,400 homes planned, this will be the last major urban project in Coslada. Of these, approximately 1,550 will be designated for public housing, reflecting a commitment from the City Council to facilitate access to housing for all citizens.
Mayor Ángel Viveros and the Councillor for Territorial Policy, José Ventura Sousa, visited the land where this new neighbourhood will be built, accompanied by members of the Compensation Board. During this visit, Viveros highlighted that "this project will not only expand our residential offer but will also contribute to the sustainable and orderly development of the municipality".
The current phase allows residents and interested entities to submit objections or suggestions regarding the project before moving on to the next phases: provisional and final approval. This citizen participation is essential to ensure that local needs and concerns are taken into account throughout the process.
The initiative is part of a broader framework aimed at improving housing conditions in Coslada, where demand has been increasing in recent years due to population and economic growth. Compared to previous projects such as the development of the El Cañaveral Industrial Park, which also sought to address housing needs but with a more industrialised approach, the Barrio del Jarama focuses exclusively on providing residences.
