An alarming discovery in Valdemingómez
Concern for animal welfare has once again taken centre stage in Madrid, after a citizen alerted the authorities about the presence of a critically ill horse in the Valdemingómez area. The animal, which was lying among rubbish and unable to move, was discovered by a passerby who did not hesitate to contact emergency services.
Officers from the Civil Guard's Nature Protection Service (Seprona) responded quickly to the alert. Upon arriving at the scene, they encountered a heartbreaking situation: the horse showed clear signs of suffering, and its condition was so severe that it required urgent veterinary attention.
Given the seriousness of the case, the officers requested the intervention of the municipal veterinary team known as Sevemur. After assessing the animal, the veterinarians determined that its condition was irreversible and decided to proceed with euthanasia, a difficult but necessary decision to prevent further suffering.
Through the microchip implanted in the horse, the authorities were able to identify its owner. This individual now faces an investigation for an alleged crime of animal abuse. The Civil Guard is gathering evidence to determine the circumstances that led to this unfortunate state of the animal.
