A former MP at the centre of controversy
The former Podemos MP, Serigne Mbaye, has decided to take a bold step by announcing his intention to file a complaint against the National Police. This announcement comes after an incident that occurred last Thursday in Madrid, where Mbaye was arrested. According to his statements, the arrest was not only unjustified but also marked by acts of racism and police violence.
Despite the accusations made by Mbaye, police authorities have responded firmly. Sources from the security force have categorically denied any insinuation that it was a racist operation. There is no doubt about that.» These words resonated among his supporters present.
The protest had visible backing from prominent political figures such as Ione Belarra, who attended to show solidarity with Mbaye. Together they denounced what they consider a systematic injustice directed towards racial communities in Spain.
