The regional government has announced an investment of one million euros in direct aid for women victims of gender violence in 2026. This aid aims to facilitate their access to the labour market and improve their economic situation.
One million euros will be the investment that the Community of Madrid will allocate in 2026 for financial aid for women victims of gender violence. This programme is specifically designed for those facing significant difficulties in accessing the labour market and whose income does not exceed 75% of the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI). The measure aims to provide crucial support to this group, which often finds itself in vulnerable situations.
Beneficiaries will be able to receive up to 3,420 euros, equivalent to six months of unemployment benefits or 95% of the Public Indicator of Multiple Effects Income (IPREM). However, this amount can increase if applicants have dependents or minors in their care, or if any have a recognised degree of disability, reaching up to 12,420 euros in those cases.
The main objective is to provide financial support that facilitates the social and labour integration of these women. The responsible department has enabled several services where applications can be submitted at any time, as long as the established requirements are met.
In addition to financial support, the Community has a comprehensive network for the care of victims. This includes emergency centres, shelters, and supervised apartments, as well as residential places aimed at different vulnerable groups such as young people and ex-prisoners. Furthermore, there are two Crisis Centres available 24 hours a day, one with eight specific residential places.
Such initiatives are not new; similar programmes have been implemented for years in various autonomous communities to combat male violence and support its victims. Compared to other regions, Madrid has recently intensified its efforts in light of the alarming increase in reported cases.
