Multimillion Investments to Revitalize the Lozoya Valley
The Community of Madrid has announced a series of ambitious projects aimed at improving infrastructure and services in the Lozoya Valley, one of the most beautiful and valued areas of the region. With a total investment exceeding 769 million euros over the last eight years, these initiatives seek not only to repair what has been lagging but also to lay the groundwork for sustainable and accessible development.
One of the most anticipated projects is the opening of the new health centre in Guadarrama, expected to be completed by December 2026. This centre will feature modern facilities, including 10 Family Medicine consultations and 14 Nursing rooms. The regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, highlighted the importance of this project by stating that "health is a priority" for the regional government.
Additionally, significant improvements are being made in the educational sector. In El Boalo, the San Sebastián centre will be expanded with new classrooms and additional school places. This educational investment amounts to 1.2 million euros, reflecting a clear commitment to the training and development of children in the area.
Another notable aspect is the construction of 58 affordable rental homes in Guadarrama. With an allocated budget of 14.2 million euros, this initiative aims to facilitate access to decent housing for local residents, thus helping to alleviate one of the most pressing issues in the metropolitan area.
The focus is not only on health and education; the M-604 and M-611 roads have been renovated to improve vehicular mobility. Furthermore, innovative services such as on-demand transport in rural areas have been implemented, ensuring that all citizens have adequate access to public transport.
Aside from the social and economic focus, there is also a strong environmental component. A total of 69 million euros has been allocated to Canal de Isabel II to modernize infrastructure related to the integral water cycle. These works are essential not only to ensure an adequate supply but also to preserve one of the most valuable resources: water.
As these projects progress, each locality within the Lozoya Valley —including Rascafría, Canencia, and Navarredonda— will see significant improvements that will positively impact their communities. President Ayuso emphasized that "this environment is a gem" that deserves to be cared for and continuously improved.
