The Torrejón City Council has installed six speed bumps on various streets to increase road safety, especially near educational centres. These measures aim to protect pedestrians and residents.
Road safety in Torrejón has received a significant boost with the recent installation of six speed bumps at different points in the municipality. This initiative, driven by the City Council, aims primarily to improve the protection of pedestrians, especially in areas close to schools and educational centres. Two of the new bumps have been placed on Calle Alcalá, right in front of the JABY Nursery School, where the goal is to ensure a safer environment for children and their families.
Additionally, two more bumps have been installed at the entrance to the Iker Casillas Special Education School. In this case, asphalt humps have been created to reinforce the safety of the pedestrian crossing in front of the main entrance of the educational centre. Such measures are crucial to prevent accidents and promote safer mobility among the most vulnerable.
At another strategic point, Polígono Casablanca has also seen improvements with a double asphalt hump built next to the pedestrian crossing in front of Servinform. The lighting in this area has been enhanced to increase visibility during nighttime hours, which is essential to prevent incidents.
Apart from the actions focused on road safety, the City Council has carried out other significant investments. On Calle Brújula, new parking spaces and a roundabout have been created to facilitate vehicle flow. This intervention not only optimises urban space but also respects the existing trees, thus maintaining a balance between urban development and the environment.
The cultural centre La Caja del Arte has also been renovated; 350 square metres of new flooring have been installed in its auditorium, and the air conditioning system has been updated. Additionally, transparent reflective vinyls have been added to the glazed facades to mitigate solar heat.
No less important is the creation of the new sports space ‘Street Gym’ in Parque Europa, which has a total area of 396 square metres and is equipped with nine outdoor exercise machines. This space promotes a healthy lifestyle among residents. Furthermore, renovation work has been carried out on another ‘Street Gym’ located on Paseo de la Convivencia, where 250 square metres of worn-out flooring were replaced due to use.
All these initiatives reflect a clear commitment from the City Council towards a safer and more accessible city for all its inhabitants. Residents can now enjoy not only greater safety when walking through the streets near schools but also access improved sports facilities that encourage healthy habits.
