The calendar establishes that the deadline for communicating the participating constituencies ends this Wednesday. From July 2 to July 3, candidates will be able to submit their applications. Subsequently, between July 4 and July 11, the collection of necessary endorsements to formalize the candidacies will take place.
The informative campaign is scheduled from July 12 to July 18, and the first vote will take place on July 19. In case there are more than two candidates, a second round is expected on the 26th of the same month. This system aims to ensure that party members have a voice in the election of their representatives.
So far, only the candidacy of the secretary general of the Madrid PSOE and current minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, is officially known. Regarding the City Council, in addition to López, names such as Reyes Maroto and Enma López, who recently held a prominent position within the party, have emerged.
