Operation against organised crime in Chinchón
The Civil Guard has carried out a successful operation in Chinchón, Madrid, dismantling a criminal group made up of six individuals, specialised in bank robberies. This group is responsible for over 30 robberies in various locations across the country, which has raised significant concern among authorities and the public.
The investigation began in October 2025, following an alarming increase in high-end vehicle thefts in Pozuelo de Alarcón. The criminals used these vehicles to travel to small towns and carry out their assaults during the early hours of the morning. Their technique included disabling security systems by cutting wiring or using frequency jammers.
Once inside the bank branches, the group members employed highly specialised tools to open safes. In a matter of minutes, they managed to seize large sums of money; it is estimated that in a single night they could steal over €140,000.
As a result of the surveillance conducted by the agents, six searches were carried out where the suspects were arrested. During these operations, several crucial items for their criminal activity were seized: four vehicles used for the robberies, hydraulic pincers, a thermal lance, and electronic devices such as jammers and hidden cameras.
The detainees are charged with a total of 32 crimes related to robberies in bank branches located in cities such as Burgos, Valladolid, Albacete, Cuenca, and Toledo. The judge has ordered preventive detention while investigations into their criminal activities continue.
This case once again highlights the urgent need to strengthen preventive measures against organised crime in Spain. The local community expresses relief at the group's arrest but also concern for overall banking security. Authorities are working to implement strategies to prevent similar future incidents.
