The National and Municipal Police have dismantled a network operating in San Blas-Canillejas, seizing 400 grams of WAX and other drugs. Four men and one woman have been arrested.
A joint operation between the National Police and the Municipal Police has led to the dismantling of a network dedicated to drug sales in the San Blas-Canillejas district. The operation, carried out last June, resulted in the seizure of 400 grams of WAX, a concentrated cannabis extract that has begun to gain notoriety in the illicit market. This type of drug is characterised by its high THC concentration, reaching up to 90%, which causes intense and immediate psychoactive effects. In total, agents seized approximately 30,000 euros in illegal substances during the searches conducted.
The discovery of the sales point came after months of investigation that began in February, when agents noticed unusual activity within the premises that operated as a supposed association for cannabis consumers. However, inquiries revealed that there was no official registration of the establishment and that anyone could access it without prior identification. This led investigators to conclude that the place was merely a front for criminal activities related to drug trafficking and consumption.
During the searches, in addition to the WAX, two hundred grams of marijuana and a full kilogram of hashish were also found. The organisation had a well-structured logistical system: while some members directly served customers inside the makeshift dispensary, others monitored the entrances and exits to avoid encounters with police forces.
Agents also discovered cannabis-derived products such as gummies and cosmetics made with this substance. The material found included dosing tools and cash presumably from trafficking.
This case highlights a growing phenomenon related to new forms of cannabis consumption. Although recreational use has been legalised in various regions around the world, the emergence of WAX represents an additional challenge for authorities due to its high potency and potential risk to public health.
