A fire in a building in Fuenlabrada forced the evacuation of residents from three floors. A woman was hospitalised for smoke inhalation following the incident that occurred on Sunday night.
A fire declared on the fifth floor of a building in Fuenlabrada has led to the evacuation of several homes and left a woman with minor injuries. The fire broke out minutes after 23:00 hours on Sunday at number 7 on Urbanización Nuevo Versalles. The Firefighters of the Community of Madrid received the alert and quickly arrived at the scene, where they found the fire to be “well advanced.” The flames mainly affected two rooms, while smoke spread throughout the apartment. Thanks to their swift intervention, the firefighters managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other floors of the building. The owner of the apartment, a 42-year-old woman, was treated by the medical services of SUMMA 112 for mild smoke inhalation and was subsequently transferred to Hospital Universitario de Fuenlabrada. Two other neighbours also required medical attention but were able to be discharged on-site. As a precautionary measure, it was decided to evacuate the homes located on the fifth, sixth, and seventh floors of the building. In total, around 25 neighbours were evacuated during the operation. After extinguishing the fire and verifying that there was no risk to the rest of the building, emergency services allowed residents to return to their homes. This incident recalls other similar events that have occurred in the region; for example, a fire in a residential block two years ago left several injured but no fatalities.
