A fire in a grassy area near an aluminium extrusion plant in Ciempozuelos was controlled by 13 firefighting units. No injuries were reported, but a preventive medical device was activated.
A fire declared this Saturday at 16:50 in Ciempozuelos has mobilised a total of 13 units from the Community of Madrid Fire Brigade. The blaze started in a grassy area adjacent to a plant dedicated to aluminium extrusion, located in an industrial estate near kilometre 32 of the A-4, heading towards Madrid. The flames spread rapidly due to the strong winds affecting the region.
Authorities reported that the fire generated a large column of smoke visible from various points in the municipality. This phenomenon was mainly due to the combustion of materials stored outdoors, which complicated initial efforts to control the fire.
“The firefighters are working intensively to prevent the flames from reaching the roofed part of the plant,”
declared a spokesperson for the service.
Despite the scare and the massive deployment, no injuries or cases of poisoning were recorded among workers or nearby residents. However, as a preventive measure, Summa 112 activated a medical device in the area to attend to any eventualities.
