An alarming incident on the A-2
On a morning that began like any other, a driver unleashed chaos in the vicinity of the A-2, between Torrejón de Ardoz and San Fernando de Henares. The event took place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, when around 10:00 hours, Civil Guard agents attempted to stop a vehicle displaying suspicious behaviour.
Rather than stopping, the driver chose to flee at high speed, endangering not only his life but also that of other road users. In a reckless act, he even drove the wrong way down the motorway. During this dangerous escape, two motorcyclists from the police force became involved in the chase. One of them was rammed by the fugitive, forcing the officer to swerve towards the median to avoid a more serious collision.
The other officer continued pursuing the suspect, who eventually stopped his vehicle as if he were going to surrender. However, what seemed like a surrender was merely a trap: when the officer approached, the driver attacked again and rammed him, causing him to fall onto the roadway.
The situation culminated when the fugitive's vehicle was intercepted near the M-21. The agents managed to arrest the individual after an intense chase. Upon searching the car, they found several knives and replica weapons along with fake plates referencing police bodies.
The detainee faces serious charges, including reckless driving and assaulting an officer. This incident has once again highlighted the inherent risks faced by public order agents in their daily duties.
The Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC) was quick to react to this alarming episode. Through their social media, they shared images of the incident and emphasized the dangers faced daily by members of the force. They also congratulated the officers involved in the suspect's arrest and reminded that one of the injured officers belongs to the Traffic detachment located in Paracuellos del Jarama.
Despite the constant danger, AUGC has reiterated its demand for official recognition of police work as a high-risk profession.
