A shocking accident on the MetroSur network
In the early hours of this Tuesday, a 42-year-old man was the victim of a serious accident on the MetroSur line, specifically between the stations of Fuenlabrada Central and Parque Europa. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM, when the emergency centre received an alert about a train collision.
The Firefighters of the Community of Madrid acted quickly, carrying out rescue operations to free the man who had become trapped. After his rescue, the medical team from SUMMA 112 took charge of the injured man. According to statements from Gemma R. Leal, supervisor of the Emergency service, the patient's condition is critical.
The initial assessment indicates that the man has suffered a severe cranioencephalic trauma, as well as generalised polytrauma. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was urgently transferred to Hospital 12 de Octubre, where he remains under medical observation with a reserved prognosis.
The circumstances that led the man to be on the train tracks at that time are still under investigation. Initial hypotheses suggest that he may have been under the influence of alcohol, which could have contributed to his fall. This type of incident reminds us of the vital importance of following basic advice to avoid tragedies: "If you drink, do not walk on the train tracks".
As investigations progress, it is crucial to remember that mixing excessive alcohol consumption with nighttime activities can have fatal consequences. Safety should always be a priority, especially in dangerous environments like metro tunnels.
