An alarming case of violence in the community
In a disturbing incident that has shaken the town of Leganés, the National Police have arrested five individuals involved in the assault and detention of a young man over a debt of just 15 euros. This incident, which began to unfold in February, was uncovered thanks to citizen collaboration and the use of modern technology.
The investigation was initiated when a citizen alerted the authorities after receiving a disturbing video showing the young man, originally from Guinea and born in 2002, being assaulted and threatened inside a home. The footage revealed an alarming situation: the boy was semi-naked and was being insulted and beaten by several attackers.
The initial police actions confirmed that the young man was being held under extreme conditions. The video showed one of the attackers holding him by the neck, making it difficult for him to breathe, while others wielded a knife, bringing it dangerously close to his skin. This situation highlighted not only the physical violence but also the psychological abuse suffered by the victim.
As the investigations progressed, another violent episode occurred at the same residence. In mid-March, a Costa Rican man born in 1995 approached police officers with evident injuries. He reported that he had been assaulted after trying to mediate in a dispute between the same individuals involved earlier.
March 11 marked a crucial point for the authorities. With information gathered during previous inquiries and supported by citizen testimonies, the officers set up a device to locate the suspects. Within hours, they managed to identify and arrest four men and one woman, all linked to the case.
The arrested individuals include two young Spaniards born in 2005, a Colombian born in 1995, and two Hungarian siblings born in 1999. All of them face serious charges including crimes against moral integrity, serious injuries, and illegal detention. Additionally, one of the detainees had a restraining order in place regarding his former partner.
After being arrested, the five implicated were brought before a judge where their criminal responsibilities will be determined. This case underscores not only the importance of police work but also the fundamental role that the community plays in reporting irregular situations.
