A Premeditated Attack That Left One Fatality
On October 3, 2022, Fuenlabrada became the scene of a violent attack that left the community in shock. The Provincial Court of Madrid has begun this week the trial against four individuals allegedly involved in the murder of a 21-year-old man, as well as the serious injuries suffered by three other young people. This tragic event, linked to the rivalry between urban gangs, has highlighted the growing concern for safety on the streets.
During the first day of the trial, several witnesses recounted terrifying moments. Walid, one of the survivors of the attack, recalled how he was ambushed by two assailants armed with a machete and a gun. “I turned around and received two machete blows,” he confessed before the court. His account reflects not only the fear experienced that night but also the confusion that reigned when he heard gunshots near the Caña Brava venue.
Noelia, another witness present during the shooting, described how she saw the hooded individuals flee towards a parking lot after carrying out the attack. “You could only see their eyes and something orange at face level,” she recalled with distress as she narrated the events to the court.
According to investigations carried out by the Public Prosecutor's Office, this attack was not an isolated incident. It was a planned retaliation by members of the Dominican Don't Play (DDP) gang following another shooting that had previously occurred between rival gangs. The Public Prosecutor maintains that the assailants had been monitoring their victim and meticulously prepared their attack to cause the maximum possible harm.
The four defendants face serious legal consequences: for the two alleged perpetrators of the crime, a life sentence with review is being sought, along with more than 78 additional years for other related crimes involving attempted murder. The driver who facilitated their escape is also under investigation and could face up to 53 years in prison if found guilty.
As this trial progresses, Fuenlabrada watches closely how these judicial events unfold, reflecting an alarming social issue related to urban gangs.
