The Cercanías station in Ciempozuelos will be transformed with new accessible facilities. Adif is allocating nearly one million euros to improve the infrastructure and surroundings.
The Cercanías station in Ciempozuelos, located on line C-3, will undergo a significant transformation thanks to a contract awarded by Adif for an amount close to one million euros. The main objective of this project is to improve the accessibility of the site, which will include the installation of lifts and escalators, as well as the expansion of the underpass. These improvements are part of the Madrid Cercanías Plan, which aims to modernise and make rail transport in the region more functional.
The specific contract for the drafting of the project amounts to €952,044.78 and also includes the renovation of the building intended for passengers. In addition, improvements are expected to be made to the access points and the immediate surroundings of the station, which will facilitate transit for both regular users and those with reduced mobility.
Among the most significant modifications is the current removal of track 3 and its replacement with a new detached track measuring 750 metres. This new infrastructure will feature safety handles at both ends to ensure greater operational safety. Adaptations will also be made to the electrical and telematic systems, as well as improvements to the drainage.
The works are scheduled to be carried out in two phases: the first phase will last 24 months, dedicated exclusively to the drafting of the project; while the second phase will cover 12 months, during which technical assistance will be provided during the actual execution of the works.
This effort to modernise Ciempozuelos is not isolated. It is part of other initiatives carried out by Adif along the entire C-3 line. Recently, the traffic management system between Villaverde Bajo and Aranjuez has been renewed through a new system known as Block Automatic Banalizado (BAB). This advancement allows trains to run in both directions on either of the two available tracks, thereby increasing both capacity and operational flexibility.
Furthermore, Adif has been actively working on renewing much of the stretch between Ciempozuelos and Aranjuez by replacing old sleepers and rails. These actions are an integral part of the ongoing commitment to a more reliable and efficient rail service.
With these reforms expected to be completed within three years, users will be able to enjoy not only a better experience when using rail services but also access to modern facilities that facilitate their daily mobility.
