This Sunday, Madrid Metro will implement a service increase of up to 18% on lines 2 and 4, aiming to facilitate the movement of fans attending the second match of the Spanish National Team in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The match will take place at 18:00 hours, where Spain will face the Saudi Arabia team.

The frequency boost will start at 17:00 hours, allowing for a staggered and safe arrival at the event. Authorities have advised attendees to arrive early to avoid crowds and enjoy the festive atmosphere that will be present in the streets of Madrid. This special deployment will remain in place until 21:30 hours, ensuring adequate mobility after the match.
In addition to the frequency increase, there will also be a significant rise in personnel at the stations to ensure the proper functioning of the service. In particular, specific signage has been arranged at the Colón station, guiding travelers to the Fan Zone ‘Plaza Selección’, where they can follow the match on giant screens.
As part of the festive atmosphere, those using line 4 will have the opportunity to board a special train dedicated to the national team. This train has been completely decorated in red and features images of some iconic players, turning each journey into a unique and immersive experience.
This visual initiative has been designed in collaboration with the Spanish Football Federation, aiming to bring the World Cup spirit closer to the millions of daily public transport users.
Adjustments are not only being made for the World Cup; a special shuttle service is also scheduled for the night from Saturday to Sunday coinciding with the Love the Twenties festival, which will take place at Ifema Madrid. This extension will operate between 1:30 and 2:45 hours, with no intermediate stops between Feria de Madrid and Nuevos Ministerios.
Furthermore, during that day, Metro will increase the number of trains running on line 8 by up to 33% from 14:30 hours, facilitating access for thousands of people attending the festival.
