The improvement works on the A-6 will affect traffic between Galapagar and Collado Villalba during August. €198,000 will be invested in the rehabilitation of key infrastructures.
The scheduled works to improve the A-6 motorway, which runs through towns such as Galapagar, Collado Villalba and Las Rozas, will begin next month in August. These interventions, which involve an investment of €198,000, aim primarily at the rehabilitation of three structures and the maintenance of the road surface in a specific stretch of the road. The work includes the waterproofing of two overpasses located at kilometre 36 in Galapagar, and another at kilometre 37.400, situated in Collado Villalba.
To carry out these improvements, it will be necessary to implement traffic restrictions that will affect users for several weeks. Between 4 and 16 August, one lane will be closed at the aforementioned overpasses; however, one direction of traffic will always be kept open to minimise inconvenience to drivers. Additionally, there will be a complete closure of these overpasses from 3 to 21 August, which will require motorists to seek alternative routes.
During this critical period for mobility, there will also be alternating closures on the service roads between kilometres 19 and 21. To facilitate transit during the works, alternative routes will be established: vehicles will be able to access from the overpass at kilometre 36 to the service road towards A Coruña by first using the road towards Madrid and making a U-turn at the overpass at kilometre 33. In the opposite direction, access to the overpass at kilometre 37.4 will be available from Madrid.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has recommended taking extra precautions during this period and urged drivers to respect all installed signage as well as the instructions provided by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) through information panels. It is important to keep in mind that any modification or adjustment to the initial plan could occur due to adverse weather conditions.
These works are part of the national programme aimed at the maintenance and conservation of state roads. Since June 2018, nearly €876 million has been allocated for such projects within the Madrid region.
