An Unprecedented Offer for Senior Travellers
The Community of Madrid has launched an exciting travel programme designed specifically for people over 55 years old, offering a variety of options ranging from Caribbean cruises to cultural routes in Europe. This initiative aims not only to promote tourism among seniors but also to create a space where they can socialise and enjoy new experiences.
With a total of 350,000 places available, the new edition includes itineraries to over 1,400 destinations, both national and international. Prices are surprisingly affordable, starting at 350 euros per person for getaways within the Peninsula, while international trips can reach up to 1,995 euros. These costs include all expenses, from transport to accommodation and scheduled activities.
It’s not just about relaxing on paradise beaches; the programme also offers unique opportunities to explore history. Among the proposals are themed tours that allow participants to learn more about the memories of the First and Second World Wars, as well as getaways to iconic places like the Jerte Valley during the cherry blossom season.
Cruises are one of the main attractions, with itineraries that include stops at exotic destinations such as Tanzania, Florida, and the Dominican Republic. These journeys promise to be an unforgettable experience for those seeking adventure at sea.
From this edition onwards, a non-related companion can benefit from the programme alongside the senior traveller. Additionally, 350 free places have been reserved for non-professional caregivers who need a well-deserved break. This measure aims to broaden access to these enriching experiences.
Aside from tourism, one of the fundamental objectives is to combat loneliness among older people. Councillor Ana Dávila highlighted how this programme has created a genuine travel community where participants can make new friends with similar interests. “It’s an ideal activity to connect with others in similar situations,” Dávila stated during the programme presentation.
Those interested can register from today at any of the 741 collaborating agencies, including Viajes El Corte Inglés and Halcón Viajes. There, they will receive detailed information about itineraries, dates, and available excursions.
