A Journey Through Time in the Landscapes of Aranjuez
The Strawberry Train, an emblematic route connecting Madrid with the majestic Royal Palace of Aranjuez, returns to the tracks in 2026, offering a unique experience that combines history and tourism. Since its inauguration in 1984, this train has transported thousands of travellers through time, recreating the original journey that began in 1851 under the reign of Isabel II.
The adventure begins at the Madrid Railway Museum, located at the Delicias station. Passengers can board the train every weekend from 22 March to 7 June. Departure is scheduled for 10:00, with return from Aranjuez at 18:38, arriving at the museum around 19:30. Doors will open at 09:15 and close at 09:50, so it is advisable to arrive early.
Travellers have the opportunity to choose from various options to make the most of their visit:
- Fresh Strawberries: train journey only. Adults €32, children €24.
- Strawberries with Cream: includes Chiquitrén and guided tour of gardens. Adults €43, children €32.
- Tajo Strawberries: boat ride and garden visit. Adults €49, children €38.
- Royal Strawberries: visits to the Royal Palace and Museum of Royal Barges. Adults €49, children €38.
- Combined Routes: various options from Tajo Cream to Royal Tajo, among others.
- Cycling Strawberries, from the Orchard and among Canoes: active experiences from €48 to €60.
- Musical Strawberries: a journey accompanied by ancient melodies for only €49/€38.
- English Tour: guided tours in English available at an affordable price.
Taking advantage of this cultural offer, children under one metre travel free and there are special discounts for groups of more than fifteen people. Tickets are available both online and at the box office.
It’s not just about the journey; once they arrive in Aranjuez, passengers can enjoy a series of activities including guided tours of the famous Parterre, Island, and Prince gardens. Additionally, river tours along the Tajo River and exclusive access to the Royal Palace will be offered. As a final touch, each traveller will receive fresh strawberries directly from this historic region.
