A new chapter at Camp Nou
The FC Barcelona has taken a significant step in its transfer strategy by officially announcing the signing of talented English winger Anthony Gordon. Coming from Newcastle United, Gordon joins the Catalan club on a contract that runs until June 30, 2031, in a deal that could reach 80 million euros, including bonuses.
Although the signing was scheduled for 13:00 CET, the process extended for more than eight hours due to bureaucratic complications. However, Gordon remained calm during the wait, confident that his transfer was secured. “I was with my family and knew everything was done,” the player commented.
During his official presentation at the iconic Spotify Camp Nou, Gordon expressed his excitement about joining the club he has always considered the best in the world. “I have made a childhood dream come true,” he said emotionally. He also revealed that he had been learning Spanish for the past two years to facilitate his adaptation to the team and Catalan culture.
Under the guidance of new coach Hansi Flick, Gordon hopes to contribute significantly to the team's success. The British player has compared himself to his teammate Raphinha, highlighting attributes such as speed and intensity, qualities he hopes to bring to the pitch to help Barça win major titles.
Despite being new to the club, Gordon already has big aspirations. When asked which title he would like to win first, he did not hesitate to mention the Champions League: “Winning it in my first season would be incredible.” With this competitive mindset and his desire to succeed alongside his new teammates, the future looks bright for this young talent.
