A visual strategy in the heart of Madrid

In a move that reinforces his image among fans and members of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez has unveiled an impressive billboard on a building near the iconic Santiago Bernabéu. This action not only celebrates the club's recent triumphs but also aims to consolidate his position as president in the upcoming elections.

The billboard, covering around 1,000 square metres, features a monumental photograph of Pérez alongside the cities where Real Madrid has conquered the UEFA Champions League: Glasgow, Lisbon, Milan, Cardiff, Kyiv, Paris, and London. The slogan “A lot of history to make” accompanies this powerful image, sending a clear message about the club's ongoing ambition.

This is not the first time such advertising has been used in the electoral context of Spanish football. In December 2020, Joan Laporta, the current president of FC Barcelona, placed a similar billboard in Madrid during his campaign to regain the position. Laporta's banner also measured around 1,000 square metres and read “Eager to see you again,” which helped him win the elections. This precedent adds an interesting nuance to Pérez's current strategy.

As preparations for the Real Madrid elections intensify, a new contender emerges: Enrique Riquelme. It was confirmed on Saturday that Riquelme has secured the necessary financial endorsement to run as a candidate. The bank Andbank has granted him significant financial backing of 193 million euros after arduous negotiations.

With this financial support secured just before the deadline for candidacy submissions, Riquelme positions himself as Florentino Pérez's main rival. The contest promises to be fierce and full of strategies both on and off the field.

Through this billboard and his recent achievements with the white team, Florentino aims not only to remind fans of his legacy as president but also to project an optimistic vision for the future. With each title won under his mandate and now facing the imminent electoral battle against Riquelme, Pérez is determined to show that he still has much more to offer the club.
