A Dominant Start in Houston
The German national team has kicked off its journey in the 2023 World Cup with an impressive 7-1 victory against debutants Curacao, in a match held at the NRG Stadium in Houston. This result not only reflects the superiority of the German team but also marks a milestone for the Caribbean side, which managed to score its first goal in World Cup history.
Despite the heavy defeat, Curacao earned applause from their supporters by briefly equalising the score thanks to a goal from Livano Comenencia. The Zurich midfielder capitalised on a rebound after a German defensive action and surpassed the legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who returned to the starting lineup after a long absence.
From that moment on, Germany took absolute control of the match. With goals from Felix Nmecha, Nico Schlotterbeck, Kai Havertz (who scored twice), Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, and Deniz Undav, the Germans showcased their offensive prowess and teamwork under the guidance of coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Throughout the second half, Germany continued to extend their lead. Musiala scored shortly after the break, followed by more goals that sealed a crushing victory. The Curacao defence was unable to contain the German onslaught, allowing the Europeans to keep adding goals until the final score of 7-1.
As the tournament progresses, Germany is preparing to face tougher challenges against teams like Ivory Coast and Ecuador. The team aims to redeem itself after disappointing performances in recent World Cups, and this victory gives them confidence for the upcoming matches.
