Mixed martial arts (MMA) in Spain are experiencing unprecedented growth, and this weekend, a new protagonist will join the international scene. Hecher Sosa, known as the Guanche Warrior, will make his UFC debut facing Brazilian Luan Lacerda during the UFC Vegas 114 event. Sosa, originally from Lanzarote and with an impressive record of 14 wins and only one loss, has proven to be a formidable competitor. Despite the sadness of losing his father on the same day, Sosa used that painful experience as motivation to succeed and achieve his dream.
Confident in his skills and prepared for any situation inside the octagon, Hecher has stated: “I am a very complete fighter. I’m good at jiu-jitsu, I’m good at wrestling and striking. Wherever the fight goes, I will feel comfortable”. This confidence is key against an experienced opponent like Luan Lacerda, who has a record of 13 wins and 3 losses and is known for his jiu-jitsu prowess.
Lacerda comes into the fight with three previous bouts in the UFC; however, he has only managed to emerge victorious in one of them. With eleven submission finishes throughout his career, it is clear that the Brazilian will not be an easy opponent for Sosa. The Canary fighter's strategy will be crucial to neutralise the skills of the South American fighter.
The event will take place this Saturday at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas and will start at 22:00 (peninsular time), with Hecher Sosa's fight scheduled for approximately 23:00. Fans will be able to follow all the action through HBO Max.
