A refreshing season in Madrid

With the start of the San Isidro festivities, Madrid opens the doors to its much-anticipated municipal pool season. Starting from 15th May, a total of 22 outdoor facilities will be available for citizens, a number that will increase to 25 facilities in the coming weeks.

The Deputy Mayor and municipal spokesperson, Inma Sanz, has announced that this year several innovations will be implemented to enhance the user experience. One of the most notable is a free express aquagym class programme, which will not require prior registration. These sessions, lasting 30 minutes, will be open to all visitors and aim to promote healthy habits through activities such as water gymnastics and stretching.

As part of Madrid's tradition, the opening day will be completely free for all attendees, regardless of the weather. The Deputy Mayor emphasized the symbolic significance of 15th May as a key date for the official start of summer in the Spanish capital.

The daily operation will maintain three shifts: morning, afternoon, and full day. To facilitate access to the facilities, different purchasing methods will be combined: traditional ticket booths, machines in sports centres, and online sales through the website or municipal app. The latter option is expected to be the most used by citizens.

Another important innovation is the dynamic capacity system that will allow spaces to be reused when users leave the facilities earlier than expected. This mechanism will be managed via a QR code that will be verified upon exit.

The season will run until 6th September, thus offering a long period to enjoy water and sun in various districts of Madrid. With these measures, Madrid aims not only to provide a recreational space but also to promote active lifestyles among its residents.
