Confusion surrounding the legality of concerts
In an attempt to clear up the doubts that have arisen regarding the legality of concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid has issued an official statement. This declaration comes after several media outlets incorrectly reported on an alleged ruling from the Supreme Court, prompting the club to clarify its position regarding urban regulations and applicable licenses.
The controversy dates back to an appeal filed by the club against a decision from the High Court of Justice of Madrid, which ruled in November 2025 in favour of a local residents' association. This group had asked the City Council to confirm whether the licenses granted for the stadium's renovation also allowed for the holding of large concerts. Due to the lack of response, they decided to take the matter to court.
At the end of last year, the TSJM issued a ruling in favour of the residents, which forced the lower court to examine the case more closely. Real Madrid attempted to appeal this decision to the Supreme Court, but their appeal was rejected, meaning that its content will not be evaluated and the previous ruling stands.
Despite the judicial setback, Real Madrid remains steadfast in its defence. In its statement, it emphasises that there is currently no judicial ruling declaring the concerts held at its stadium illegal. Furthermore, they compare their situation to other major sports venues such as the Metropolitano Stadium, where musical events are also held under similar regulations.
The club asserts that it will continue to fight for its rights and hopes that the judicial process will continue its ordinary course.
