A career full of achievements and emotions

This Saturday, the football world paused to pay tribute to Roberto Torres, who announced his retirement after 19 years dedicated to the sport that has defined his life. Through an emotional message on Instagram, the former CA Osasuna player shared his feelings about this new chapter, stating that “everything has a beginning and an end”.

In his post, Torres not only said goodbye to football with a simple “Thank you football!”, but also offered his followers a visual journey through his career, filled with cherished memories from his beginnings to his last match.

Throughout his career, Roberto has witnessed countless memorable moments. In the video he shared, he recalled how as a child he dreamed of playing at El Sadar, facing the great players he admired on television. His reflection was clear: “I have achieved much more than I ever imagined”.

Not only goals and victories have defined Torres's career; the values he has upheld throughout this time have also played a significant role. The footballer highlighted the importance of effort, humility, and teamwork as fundamental pillars in his professional life. From his first steps in football at the age of five to his official farewell, every match was a lesson learned.

As he closed this chapter, Roberto did not forget to thank all the clubs where he left his mark: Burladés, Chantrea, Ezkabarte, Osasuna, and other international teams like Foolad and Inter d’Escaldes. Each contributed to shaping the player and person he is today.

Additionally, he dedicated special words to those who accompanied him on this journey: family and friends who became an essential part of his story both on and off the field.

It didn't take long for CA Osasuna to respond to the announcement with an emotional tribute. They recognised Torres as one of the great talents to emerge from Tajonar and highlighted his achievements: being the seventh player with the most matches (353) in the club's history, as well as contributing 60 goals and two promotions.

As the lights dim on a brilliant sporting career, Roberto Torres leaves behind not only impressive statistics but also a deep connection with the red-and-white fans. His legacy will endure among those who were fortunate enough to see him play.
