The Town Hall of Alcorcón has detected and penalised nearly a dozen offenders for illegal dumping thanks to new cameras. This measure aims to protect the environment and improve the quality of life in the city.
Ten illegal dumping violations have been detected in Alcorcón during the first three months of operation of the cameras installed by the Town Hall. This effort, coordinated between the departments of Citizen Security and Ecological Transition, aims to combat practices that harm the urban and natural environment of the municipality. The cameras have not only allowed for the identification of critical points where these dumpings occur but also facilitated the rapid intervention of municipal services. The collaboration between the Municipal Police and the Environment department has been key to advancing the processing of sanctioning files related to these harmful behaviours. According to David López, the second deputy mayor and councillor for Citizen Security, "we will not allow Alcorcón to become anyone's dumping ground." This statement underscores the determination of the Town Hall to eradicate this problem that directly affects the quality of life of its residents.
The installation of these cameras is part of a broader strategy by the Town Hall to address illegal dumping, a problem that is not new in Spain. Compared to other cities that have implemented similar measures, Alcorcón joins a collective effort to protect the environment.
