The Nanas Nursery School in Alcorcón is being modernised with a new aerothermal system. This investment aims to improve learning conditions for 138 children.
The Alcorcón City Council has taken a significant step towards improving comfort in its nursery schools by starting works at the Nanas Nursery School, where a modern climate control system will be implemented. The intervention, which has a municipal investment of 85,806.06 euros, aims to replace the old system with one based on aerothermal technology, consisting of seven air-water units. Of these, five will be used for climate control and two for the production of sanitary hot water.
This change is crucial as the educational centre did not have adequate climate control during the hottest months of the year. Additionally, a definitive breakdown in the boiler that provided heating and hot water had left the 138 children attending the school without a suitable environment for their development.
The new installation will take advantage of the existing underfloor heating to ensure an optimal temperature throughout the year. According to statements from the City Council, this system will not only improve conditions inside the classroom but will also allow for reduced energy consumption, decreased gas usage, and minimised pollutant emissions.
This work is part of a broader plan to climate-control all municipal nursery schools. So far, centres like Gloria Fuertes, Andersen, Campanilla, and Las Flores have already been equipped with similar systems. The interventions at Nanas and Sueños are currently underway, while the climate control of the Mago de Oz Nursery School is expected to be completed before the end of the term.
The Councillor for Education, Trinidad Castillo, has emphasised the importance of these improvements: "While some continue to say that heat in the classrooms is a source of inspiration, we are acting to ensure that our children learn in the best possible conditions." This proactive approach reflects a clear commitment from the municipal government towards early childhood education.
The works are not only necessary from a practical standpoint; they also represent a response to growing concerns about child welfare in educational environments. Compared to other nearby municipalities where similar problems persist without apparent solutions, Alcorcón is taking decisive measures to ensure a more sustainable and comfortable future for its young students.
