A job opportunity in Madrid's public transport
The City Council of Madrid has launched a call for the creation of a job pool for drivers of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT). This initiative arises in response to the anticipated retirements within the current workforce, creating an urgent need to incorporate new professionals into the service.
Those interested in joining this pool can submit their applications from last Wednesday until 11:59 PM on May 11. This deadline offers candidates the opportunity to register and become a fundamental part of the public transport system in the Spanish capital.
Applicants must meet several essential requirements. Firstly, it is necessary to hold a Class D driving licence with at least six months of validity. Additionally, a valid Professional Competence Certificate (CAP) for passengers is required, along with maintaining a minimum of 10 points on the driving licence.
Experience also plays a crucial role; applicants must have worked for at least six months driving vehicles intended for public transport, specifically those with a capacity for more than 16 passengers, within the last 20 years. Furthermore, candidates must have a Secondary Education Certificate (ESO) or its equivalent, as well as being a Spanish national or European citizen, or having legal residency in Spain.
Not all work experiences will be considered valid. Excluded are those related to driving taxis, VTC vehicles, light rail, trams or trains, as well as the transport of goods or heavy machinery. This ensures that only candidates with direct experience in the public transport sector are selected.
The selection process for future drivers will consist of four well-defined phases. The first stage will involve reviewing applications and verifying that all established requirements are met. Subsequently, candidates will need to pass theoretical tests on professional knowledge and topics related to occupational safety and equality.
The third phase will include a practical test where candidates will demonstrate their driving skills through a real route on buses. Finally, all those who pass the previous stages will have to undergo a medical examination to ensure their physical fitness for this essential role.
For additional details about this call and to formalise registration, interested parties can consult the complete guidelines available on the official EMT Madrid website. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to contribute to the development of Madrid's public transport while starting a stable professional career.
