A new challenge in Madrid transport

The Municipal Transport Company (EMT) of Madrid has announced the implementation of a special service that will begin this Saturday, designed to mitigate the effects of the closure on line 10 of the Metro. This affected stretch, which runs from Cuzco to Nuevos Ministerios, will see the addition of fifteen buses that will offer intermediate stops to facilitate user movement.

The deputy mayor, Inma Sanz, who made the announcement from Valdebebas, assured that the EMT is prepared to adapt this reinforcement according to the needs observed during its operation. The estimated frequency will be between two and three minutes, which will allow passengers to have an efficient alternative while works are carried out on line 10.

This project not only aims to solve immediate mobility problems but also to completely modernise the affected station. The works will include the installation of 12 new panoramic lifts and 24 escalators, as well as a significant expansion of the lobby. With these improvements, it is expected to considerably increase the operational capacity of the station, which will have more than 12,400 square meters, doubling its current size.

The total investment allocated for this modernisation amounts to 66 million euros. The new facilities are anticipated to be ready and operational by early 2027. This renovation is part of the City Council's commitment to continuously improve the public transport system in Madrid.

Given this temporary situation, the Consortium has recommended that passengers plan their journeys in advance and consider additional time for their trips. For those who prefer to walk, it is estimated that covering the approximately 900 meters between Nuevos Ministerios and Santiago Bernabéu will take around 11 minutes, while between Santiago Bernabéu and Cuzco is about 500 meters (6 minutes).
