A Step Forward in Urban Mobility
The Community of Madrid has announced an ambitious project that will transform mobility around the Estadio Metropolitano. This new access, located at the Metro station on Line 7, aims to facilitate the transit of thousands of fans and visitors during sporting and cultural events.
The Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, presented the details of the plan during a visit to the facilities. With an estimated budget of 9 million euros, the project includes the construction of a circular ramp measuring 110 meters long and 6 meters wide, designed to handle large crowds and avoid the typical congestion caused by conventional stairs.
This new access will not only enhance the user experience but will also significantly increase the capacity of the existing lobby. The new space is expected to feature over 1,200 square meters, including 26 control points, eight escalators, and five elevators that will connect directly to the platforms.
The estimated timeframe for completing this work is 12 months, which will ensure readiness for the major sporting events scheduled at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. According to Rodrigo, these improvements are essential not only for optimizing access to the stadium but also for reinforcing the role of public transport as a key element in the cultural and recreational experience that Madrid offers.
As Madrid positions itself as an international cultural and sporting reference, initiatives like this highlight the importance of public transport. The minister emphasized how iconic facilities like the Riyadh Air Metropolitano and the Santiago Bernabéu have transcended their original functions to become central hubs within Madrid's leisure activities.
