Political Tension in Parla Following the Inauguration of a New Health Centre

A new health centre for Parla

The Community of Madrid has taken a significant step in improving healthcare in Parla with the inauguration of the Parla Este Health Centre and a Mental Health Complex, which have become key resources for over 16,500 residents, including nearly 4,000 minors. The regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, highlighted the regional government's effort by investing 12.3 million euros in these facilities, which cover a total area of 6,770 square metres.

Despite the positive impact this new infrastructure may have on the community, the socialist mayor of Parla, Ramón Jurado, has not hidden his discontent regarding the way the inauguration was conducted. Jurado described the visit as an "institutional disloyalty" and a "lack of respect", as he was not informed in advance about the event. Despite his criticisms, the mayor expressed his welcome to Ayuso and the new health services.

The Parla Este Health Centre is the fifth in the municipality and has a staff of 33 professionals dedicated to Family Medicine, Nursing, and Paediatrics. The facilities are designed to provide quick and efficient care, including specific areas for emergencies and extractions.

On the other hand, the complex dedicated to mental health occupies more than 1,700 square metres and includes 37 consultation rooms and spaces for group therapies. This space is intended for both adults and young people and has a multidisciplinary team made up of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.

Díaz Ayuso emphasized that such investments are part of the regional government's commitment to Primary Care, noting that 90% of consultations are handled by general practitioners. She also mentioned a 10% increase in the budgets allocated to the primary healthcare level in Madrid this year.

Ayuso also recalled that during this legislative term, they have committed to opening a total of 34 health centres; so far, six are already operational. The aim is to ensure adequate access to essential medical services for all Madrid citizens.
