An unexpected reminder
In a surprising turn of events, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid, Rocío Albert, has issued a public invitation to former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero to regularise the tax situation of some valuable jewels that were recently discovered. In her message via X (formerly Twitter), Albert emphasised that the jewels must be taxed under the Inheritance and Donations Tax.
The discovery occurred following an intervention by the UDEF, which located an impressive collection of jewels in a safe located in the former leader's office. This treasure includes necklaces, bracelets, and rings, with a total value that could exceed one million euros. Among the standout pieces is a silver necklace with 13 blue stones and several bracelets adorned with precious stones.
Albert not only reminded Zapatero of his tax obligation but also offered him a modern solution to facilitate the process: “If you haven’t done so yet, remember that in the @ComunidadMadrid you can now conveniently pay your self-assessment via Bizum.” This proposal aims to simplify tax compliance for all Madrid citizens.
