An unprecedented celebration
The Community of Madrid has launched a unique initiative to support Rayo Vallecano, which is preparing to play its first final in the club's history. On May 27, the team led by Íñigo Martínez will face Crystal Palace in the Conference League final, an event that promises to be historic not only for the club but also for the fans.
The twelve stations of the Madrid Metro serving the districts of Puente de Vallecas and Villa de Vallecas have been adorned with banners and vinyls celebrating this special occasion. It is estimated that around 230,000 users transit daily through these stations, making them a key point for generating a festive atmosphere before the big match.
Among the decorated stations are Puente de Vallecas, Nueva Numancia, Portazgo, and Buenos Aires, among others. The Portazgo station stands out for its special decoration dedicated both to Rayo and to the traditional San Silvestre Vallecana, creating a link between local sport and Madrid traditions.
Not only the Metro is involved in this celebration; the regional government has decided to install three giant screens at the Rayo Vallecano stadium. This will allow fans to gather and experience the excitement of the match together from the stands of the venue, which has a capacity of 14,700 spectators. The screens will be located in front of each stand, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the match.
Starting from May 25, the club has begun selling tickets at a symbolic price of 5 euros. Fans will be able to purchase their tickets exclusively at the box office until the very day of the match. This strategy aims to ensure that all supporters have the opportunity to attend the event and support the team at this crucial moment.
This is not the first time the Community of Madrid has shown its support for local sport. Recently, on the occasion of international sporting events such as the 2025 Women's Euro or the 2026 World Cup, various similar initiatives have been implemented. These actions reflect a continuous commitment from the regional government towards promoting Spanish sport and its teams.
