A breakdown affecting thousands
The water supply situation in Alcalá de Henares has become a hot topic after more than 24 hours without water in several areas. This issue originated due to a break in the network of the Mancomunidad de Aguas del Sorbe, specifically in Yunquera de Henares, leaving a total of 44 municipalities without service.
As residents expressed their frustration, the City Council decided to intervene and published a statement on its social media to address the main concerns regarding the lack of supply. The most frequently asked questions include: why is the water not arriving?, when will it be restored? and in which areas is there already supply?
The Council explained that the recovery of service is not immediate. First, the pipes and tanks must be filled before water reaches homes. This process is carried out cautiously to prevent further breaks. Additionally, another incident in Marchamalo further complicated the situation by forcing a reduction in flow for several hours.
Although some districts already have intermittent or partial supply, authorities warn that not all areas will regain service at the same time. The most remote or elevated areas are the last to receive water, which could extend until tomorrow Thursday for some localities.
In response to this crisis, the City Council has implemented an emergency device with tankers to ensure access to drinking water while the situation normalises. Citizens are urged to use the water resource responsibly during this critical period.
