Police operation against youth violence
The Civil Guard has carried out a significant operation in Galapagar, where six individuals, most of them minors, have been arrested for their alleged connection to the criminal gang known as Latin Kings. This operation comes in response to a worrying increase in violent assaults in the area, which have been the subject of multiple reports from affected youths.
Since March, officers began investigating after receiving several reports describing how a hooded group approached minors. These young people were not only physically assaulted but were also forced to make gestures characteristic of the gang while being recorded. This intimidating tactic has created a climate of fear among the teenagers in the municipality.
In addition to dismantling the group, the operation has clarified three robberies with force at mobile establishments and six more in parked vehicles. The Civil Guard has indicated that these criminal acts are related to the territorial control that youth gangs seek to exert over certain areas, thereby displacing potential rivals.
Belonging to organizations such as the Latin Kings is classified as a crime in Spain. In 2012, the Supreme Court had already confirmed the dissolution of this gang in the Community of Madrid, considering it an unlawful association. However, the resurgence of these criminal activities highlights the urgent need to address the phenomenon from a social and educational perspective.
Local authorities are calling on parents and educators to be vigilant for any signs of youth involvement with these gangs. Prevention is key to preventing more young people from falling into criminal networks that use violent tactics to recruit new members. Collaboration between the community and law enforcement is essential to eradicate such behaviors and protect minors.
