A violent attack in San Isidro
In an alarming incident that occurred in the San Isidro meadow, Madrid, six alleged members of the Latin gang Latin Kings were arrested after assaulting and robbing three young people. The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday, May 20, when authorities were dismantling the attractions of the local festivities.
The victims, a 23-year-old Spaniard, a 24-year-old man from Equatorial Guinea, and a 25-year-old Ecuadorian, were enjoying the festive atmosphere when they were approached by the assailants. According to one of the injured, the group was drinking when several individuals began making characteristic gestures associated with the Latin Kings and demanded that they submit to them.
At approximately 00:30 hours, while Municipal Police officers were regulating traffic on Fragata Street, two young men emerged from the park asking for help. One of them had visible injuries to his face and clothes stained with blood. The police requested immediate medical assistance to attend to the injured for multiple contusions; however, hospital transfer was not necessary.
After receiving information about the whereabouts of the suspects, the police intensified their search. Thanks to testimonies indicating that the assailants had fled towards Vicente Quesada Street and hidden in nearby doorways, five individuals were initially arrested for crimes related to injury and violent robbery. Although the stolen items were not immediately found during the initial search, an abandoned iPhone 14 was later located nearby.
The sixth suspect was captured by undercover agents who noticed his suspicious behaviour. When he attempted to escape by running upon being approached by the police, he was quickly intercepted. This young man faces additional charges for serious disobedience in addition to the previous accusations.
Among those arrested are three 20-year-old Spaniards, a 20-year-old Venezuelan —who attempted to flee—, an 18-year-old Honduran, and a minor Ecuadorian (16 years old). This operation once again highlights the growing problem related to Latin gangs in Madrid and their violent activities.
