Guardia Civil operation against organised crime
The Guardia Civil has carried out a successful operation resulting in the arrest of six individuals belonging to a criminal gang specialised in bank heists. This group, which operated mainly in small municipalities of Burgos, Valladolid, Albacete, Cuenca and Toledo, was dismantled following an exhaustive investigation that began in October 2025.
The investigations started when authorities detected an alarming increase in the theft of high-end vehicles in the Community of Madrid. These cars were used by the criminals to quickly travel to the locations where they carried out their robberies. To hinder their identification, the gang modified the original license plates, using stolen or altered plates.
According to sources from the Armed Institute, the members of this organisation displayed a high degree of professionalism and knowledge about security systems. They primarily operated during the early hours of the morning, taking advantage of the low police presence in small towns. Their technique included disabling security measures by cutting wires or using frequency jammers. In one of their most audacious hits, they managed to steal a safe containing 140,000 euros in just one night.
The gang used an agricultural plot located in Vega de Chinchón, Madrid, as a base to hide the stolen vehicles between heists. From this strategic location, they planned incursions into various towns such as Cardeñadijo (Burgos), Montemayor de Pililla (Valladolid), Barrax (Albacete), La Puebla del Salvador (Cuenca), and El Torrico and Casarrubios del Monte (Toledo). This careful planning demonstrates the high organisational level of the group.
As a result of the operation, five home searches were conducted where highly specialised material used to commit the crimes was seized. Among the recovered items were four vehicles, tools such as hydraulic pliers and thermal lance, as well as devices for frequency jamming and GPS geolocation. Additionally, hidden cameras and cash were found along with clothing used during the heists.
The joint effort between the Commands of Madrid, Toledo, and Burgos has clarified up to 32 crimes attributed to this criminal organisation. All detainees have been brought before the judiciary and placed in preventive detention while investigations into their criminal network continue.
