A fire at the future Municipal Music School of Rivas has forced the evacuation of workers and municipal employees. Two people have been treated for smoke inhalation.
A fire broke out this morning in the building that will house the future Municipal Music School of Rivas Vaciamadrid, leading to the immediate evacuation of the present staff. The incident occurred around 12:10 PM in Plaza de la Constitución, where several workers were engaged in the facilities. In one of the floors already set up as municipal offices, employees were also carrying out their daily tasks.
The flames spread rapidly through the building's exterior cladding, causing concern among those present. Four units from the Community of Madrid Fire Brigade arrived at the scene to control the fire. Thanks to their swift intervention, they managed to contain the spread of the fire and prevent it from extending to the rest of the building.
Despite the effort, the fire significantly affected the interior of the first floor, where the municipal offices were located. The situation was brought under control and eventually extinguished without major complications.
As a precautionary measure, both the workers involved in the construction and the municipal employees were evacuated to ensure their safety. The health services of Summa 112 attended to two people for smoke inhalation; one was discharged on-site while a 57-year-old man was transferred to Arganda del Rey Hospital for a more detailed evaluation.
This incident highlights the importance of having adequate emergency measures during construction phases. The future Municipal Music School is a significant project for Rivas Vaciamadrid, aimed at enriching the cultural and educational offerings of the municipality.
