A Sunday that turned chaotic
The peaceful Sunday morning in Guadalix de la Sierra, a small municipality north of Madrid, was abruptly interrupted by an attempted abduction that has left the community in shock. Two children, just four years old, were targeted by a 26-year-old man who, using deceptive tactics, tried to take the minors while their parents enjoyed the good weather on a nearby terrace.
According to eyewitness accounts, the individual approached the children offering them sweets to lure them to a secluded area. It was at this moment that the man revealed his disturbing justification: he claimed he was following “a command from God”, describing the children as “pure souls”. This strange behaviour provoked an immediate reaction among those present, who could not believe what they were witnessing.
As the situation escalated, the father of one of the children appeared visibly distressed. The community reacted swiftly; alarmed neighbours began to run towards the scene of the incident, creating a chaotic atmosphere. The Local Police had to intervene urgently to protect the minors and establish a cordon around the suspect to prevent what could have been a lynching by furious parents and neighbours.
After the man's arrest, local authorities took immediate action. The Town Hall issued a statement seeking to calm the population and assuring that the detainee has been admitted to a psychiatric institution by court order. Some residents described the suspect as someone with strange behaviours, which has led authorities to consider his mental health as a key factor in this incident.
